Oldham County Building & Inspections
The Oldham County Inspections Office is an agency created and overseen by the Oldham County Fiscal Court. Its purpose is to enforce the state and locally mandated building and electrical codes. It reviews new construction and electricial work for compliance with these codes. It monitors the construction process and requires conformance through its approved enforcement powers.
Our primary purpose is to enforce the minimum code standards to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress (exits), stability, sanitation, approved wiring and electrical practices, adequate lighting and ventalition, energy conservation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards to the built environment.
The permitting process and subsequent inspections are intended to discover substandard work, faulty materials, deviations from the submitted documents or violations of codes or standards which could result in unsafe conditions, affect the longevity of the building, harm the public welfare or cause excessive use of our natural resources.
