Mother / Son Dance: May 14th
Hey Moms, on the Friday after Mother’s Day, here’s a chance for you to have a fun night out with your favorite fella! On Friday May 15th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the John W. Black Community Center, come dance to some great tunes spun by a live DJ. For only $12.00 per couple we will provide light refreshments, contests, and a carnation to pin on the lapel of your young gentleman. There will be a photographer on hand to capture this special moment. Call 225-0655 for tickets.

 

National Trails Day: June 5th 9:30 a.m.
Grab your tools and gloves and join us at the Morgan Conservation Park for our celebration of National Trails Day. You can help us work in the park creating a new trail and clearing invasive species. Pre-register your group and receive lunch on us!

 

Duathlon: June 19th
Participants will run a 3K on course that includes firm surfaces and cross-country segments, a 10 mile bike ride, on a non-closed road course, and finish up with another 3K run. The race costs $35.00 per individual, $55.00 per two person team. Non-USAT members must add $10.00 per participant to cover one-day insurance. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers. Early registration ends June 7th.

 

July 4th Freedom Celebration
Join us at Wendell Moore Park on the 4th of July for our FREE countywide celebration of our nation’s independence. The festivities kick off in the afternoon with pool games and concludes with a spectacular fireworks display over the lake.

Hot August Days 5K: August 14th - Peggy Baker Park
Skeleton 5K: October 10th- Wendell Moore Park

Cornhole Tournament, August 21st
Our cornhole tournament to benefit the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society will be held August 15th at Wendell Moore Park starting at 11:00 a.m. Entry fee is $50.00 per team and teams must be entered by 7/31. Prizes to be announced.

 

Mini-Triathlon: Saturday, September 11th
Our USAT sanctioned Mini-Triathlon is held at Wendell Moore Park on the first Saturday after Labor Day. The event includes a 400-meter pool swim, an 10-mile bike ride on a non-closed road course and a 3K run that includes firm surfaces and cross-country segments. The race costs $45.00 per individual and $75.00 for three-person teams. Non-USAT members must add $10.00 per participant to cover one-day insurance. The top three finishers in a variety of age groups as well as the men & women’s overall winner receive awards. Registration begins July 1st and must be turned in by August 26th. Maximum participation is 200 entries.
